Family boat trip — what to choose for children

Makarska is an ideal base for a day at sea with children. Here is how to compare the group trip, private tour and sunset cruise.

Last updated: June 2026.

At sea with a family, safety, comfort and flexibility matter most. Ogopogo offers three main options from the same harbour — west side of Makarska, next to the INA petrol station.

Group scenic trip (3 hours)

The most affordable option: €30 for adults, €15 for children 6–14 years, children under 6 free. Departure every day at 10:00, return around 13:00.

The route follows the coast towards Podgora (Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun) or Baška Voda (Tue, Thu, Sat) — it does not go to the islands. Skipper, fuel, swimming stop and snorkelling gear are included. Details in the scenic trip guide.

Private & family tour

The whole boat just for you — up to 12 people, from €350 for the 10:00–15:00 slot. Skipper, fuel and equipment included. We recommend Vruja jug with swimming in a cave; we adapt the route to your family.

Ideal when you want your own pace, longer swimming stops or lunch on the coast (lunch not included).

Sunset tour

A short evening cruise of 45 minutes, €16 for adults. No swimming — suitable for older children and a romantic end to the day. More in the sunset guide.

What to bring

  • Swimsuit and towel for all trips with swimming
  • Sunscreen and hat for children
  • For sunset — a light jacket (a gentle breeze blows in the evening)
  • Arrive 10 minutes early before departure

Speedboat rental with a family

For the islands (Zlatni rat, Zečevo) you need speedboat rental, not the group trip. BMA X222 fits up to 8 people, Jeanneau up to 6. See the private tour vs rental comparison or the 3-island route.
